In the evening on December 12th 2018, the Ceremony of 70th Anniversary of Van Don District (1948 – 2018) and Receipt of Third Class Independence Medal took place excitingly and meaningfully at the teenagers and children’s playground of Van Don district (Quang Ninh province).
Making Van Don become green, modern and smart coastal urban area
Van Don is an islands district situated in the North East Vietnam. Its location plays an extremely important strategic role in the construction and protection of the country. Throughout a history of 60-year, generations of locals and soldiers in Van Don district have continuously protected and developed this area.
Speaking at the Ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Duc Long – Provincial Deputy Secretary cum President of Qunag Ninh People’s Committee emphasized: “Following the roles of a primary economic area of the province, Van Don needs to carry on making effort to become a proactive and sustainable growth hot spot of the province and primary economic region in Northern Vietnam.”

According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Long, at the moment, Quang Ninh is striving to be a province that has a service and industry-oriented economics structure, and that acts as a high-quality tourism centre of the region as well as one of the economic growth hot spots in Northern Vietnam. It is said to be accommodated with comprehensive socio-economic and technical infrastructure. Therein, Van Don is determined as one of the breakthrough areas in terms of rapid and sustainable socio-economic development of Quang Ninh province.
The province has also been progressively calling for, selecting and facilitating major investors to engage in Van Don industrial zone. This is a favorable condition for Van Don to develop powerfully and break through sustainably in the coming time.

“Van Don is seen as a prospective island district with numerous advantages in terms of location, landscape as well as tourism and service development potential. Possessing a portfolio containing a large number of projects in Quang Ninh in general and Van Don in particular, we expect to contribute to the general development, making Van Don become a green, modern and smart island urban area and a proactive economic centre of the province”, said a senior office of FLC Group – an enterprise that had accompanied in organizing the 70th Anniversary Ceremony of Van Don District.
Raw Gem Needing to Be Exploited
In the recent years, with many spotlights in improving the infrastructure, together with leading tourism growth in the country, Quang Ninh is now of the countries that have the most active development in Vietnam.
Besides a series of worth-thousands-of-VND transport infrastructure such as Ha Long – Hai Phong highway, Ha Long – Van Don highway, Bach Dang bridge, Van Don International Airport,and Ha Long International Harbor, the born of a range of world-class hotels and resorts has created enormous opportunities to develop the tourism sector of Quang Ninh. Among those, the most noticeable amenity is FLC Ha Long, which was officially opened on December 15th. Being in close proximity to the city centre and also possessing stunning and special natural landscapes including Bai Tu Long bay, Quan Lan island, Ngoc Vung island, Co To island, etc. it can be said that Van Don has been benefiting advantages derived from the aforementioned breakthrough development and risen to be a leading destination for the investors in Quang Ninh with inclusion of strategic investors like FLC Group.
The enterprise is currently researching investment in high-tech pharmaceutical industrial zone with the purpose of attracting investment capital from countries that have advanced industry such as Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, etc. This will enable effective exploitation; improvement in the value of medicine source; development of local workforce in the field of high-tech pharmacy; and consequently contribute to actualize the National Strategy designated for the Vietnamese pharmacy sector.
Bamboo Airways – an airline of FLC Group also plans to open routes from/to Van Don in the upcoming time.
“These routes will reinforce the connectivity between Van Don, which is a new growth hot spot of Quang Ninh, and many cities and provinces in Vietnam as well as other countries”, indicated a senior officer of Bamboo Airways. He also reckoned that the appearance of such routes will contribute to attract more domestic and international visitors to the beautiful island district, and simultaneously foster the socio-economic development of Quang Ninh in general and Van Don in particular.
